How do I log in?

On any screen, go to the left margin and enter your e-mail address and password which was sent to you when you created your account. Click "Log In" and you will have access to your status information.

How do I create an account?

On any screen, go to the left margin and click "Create Account". You will be taken to a screen that will ask for information pertinent to your application, such as your name and contact information. Click "Submit" and your password will be sent to the e-mail address you provide. You must have a valid e-mail address to create an account online.

What if I lost or forgot my password?

On any screen, go to the left margin and click "Forgot Password". You will need to enter your e-mail address on the ensuing screen and click "Submit". Your password will then be e-mailed to that address (the e-mail address must match an existing account).

What if I don't have an e-mail address or I do not want to give you my information online?

Call 1-800-SCHERING and give us your name and mailing address over the phone. An application will then be sent to you and you can mail it back in after completion.

How do I get an application?

There are two ways to receive an application – by downloading it from this Web site, or by requesting an application be mailed to you.
  1. Download option: simply create a user account on this Web site, log in to that account, and click on the "Request an Application" link. You will be taken to a screen that has a link for downloading the application. Clicking on this link will download an Adobe PDF of the application. You may need Adobe Reader, a free download, to view this document.
  2. Mail option: There are two ways to request an application via mail:
    1. Call 1-800-SCHERING and leave your name and mailing address in the voice mailbox.
    2. Create a user account on this Web site, log in to that account, and click on the "Request an Application" link. You will be taken to a screen where you can request that an application be mailed to you. Since you have already given your mailing information when creating your account, your request will immediately go through and your application will be mailed within 48 hours.

When is the deadline for submitting my application?

All applications must be RECEIVED by September 30, 2007. We cannot give consideration to post marks, so any mailed applications received after that date will not be accepted. Applications may be submitted online up until the same date.

What information needs to be included with my application?

  • A completed application
  • An official high school academic transcript
  • Letter of support (details provided on application form)
  • Story of excellence (details provided on application form)
  • Copy of award in area of entry category

How do I submit my application?

There are two ways to submit your application – Mail or Online
  1. If submitting by MAIL, staple all materials together with the application form on top. Material that is submitted separately will not be accepted. Send all materials in one package to:

  2. To submit ONLINE:
    1. Create an account on this Web site.
    2. If you have not already done so, request an application.
    3. Scan all required documents so that you have electronic files for each (documents should be saved as ".pdf" or ".jpg").
    4. Go to the upload screen by clicking on the STATUS link on the left.
    5. Upload the documents by using the interface on this screen. For each document, click Browse [or Choose File on Mac OS X], and find the file you need to upload. You MUST click the UPLOAD button at the bottom for these files to be saved.
    6. Once all documents have been uploaded, click "SUBMIT MY APPLICATION" to submit your application.

Who is eligible to apply?

All applicants must supply documentation of the following:
  • US citizenship
  • Acceptance to an accredited US college
  • Enrollment in college in the fall 2007 semester

What are the criteria for selecting the winners?

  • Demonstrate outstanding performance in one of the above categories
  • Document a track record of achievements relevant to entry category
  • Hold a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Have received at least one award related to their entry category

When will the winners be announced?

A panel of experts in the asthma field selects winners after evaluating thousands of accomplished candidates. Winners will be notified in writing, by mail, in November 2007. All judges' decisions are final.

What happens if I don't use all of the scholarship funds awarded?

If a winner is unable to use the entire scholarship for any reason, all remaining money will be donated to the high school the student attended to help another student with asthma.
